Company Description

Xcelevate Skills Foundation is a nation-building initiative aimed at empowering underprivileged youth with industry-ready skills and creating sustainable talent pipelines. Founded by Umang Doctor on India’s Independence Day, August 15, 2024, Xcelevate draws on years of experience in education, mentorship, and corporate leadership. The foundation partners with nonprofits to identify and uplift hidden talent across the country, ensuring that excellence and opportunity are fostered hand-in-hand. With a strong commitment to providing education, employment opportunities, and purpose-driven leadership, Xcelevate aims to build a better future for society collectively.

Why this role exists

At Xcelevate, we believe excellence can come from anywhere. Even from the underprivileged. So when everyone is searching endlessly for โ€œjob-readyโ€ talent, we build it patiently with a deep respect for human ingenuity and potential. This role exists to ensure that belief turns into repeatable, ethical, high-quality outcomes at scale.

As the Program Manager, you will own the entire student journey before, during, and after training, across multiple programs. You will not just run programs. You will build the systems and playbooks that allow Xcelevate to scale nationally without compromising integrity or outcomes.

This is not a desk role

This is a ground-heavy role. You will work closely with:

First-generation learners navigating a completely new world

Trainers and mentors delivering intensive programs

Corporate partners trusting us with hiring commitments

Internal teams coordinating admissions, training, placement, and alumni

If you are energized by being close to execution, not removed from it, you will thrive here.

What you will own (end-to-end)1. Student lifecycle ownership

You will manage all aspects of a studentโ€™s journey, including:

ย

Admissions and onboarding

Training oversight and learner progress

Attendance, discipline, motivation, and engagement

Mentorship coordination and interventions

Placement and contract-to-hire programs

Post-placement follow-through and alumni engagement

ย

You will balance deep empathy with the ability to take tough, fair decisions when required.

2. Program execution across multiple initiatives

You will independently manage multiple programs, ensuring:

Daily delivery runs smoothly

Trainers, coordinators, and staff are aligned

Learners are supported, challenged, and accountable

Bottlenecks are identified early and resolved permanently

This role requires calm execution in complex, human situations.

3. Systems, playbooks & scale

A key measure of success in this role is what continues to work even when youโ€™re not present.

You will:

ย

Create SOPs and playbooks for all recurring activities

Continuously refine processes to eliminate repeat issues

Ensure programs can be replicated efficiently across geographies

ย

Build systems that protect quality as scale increases

4. People & leadership

You will manage:

Trainers

Program coordinators (direct reports)

Students and mentors

Cross-functional internal stakeholders

You will influence with clarity, fairness, and credibility, not hierarchy.

ย

5. Budgets, reporting & accountability

You will:

Own and manage allocated program budgets

Treat budgets like OKRs with clear outcomes, disciplined execution

Maintain strong reporting on progress, outcomes, and risks

Communicate clearly with leadership and partners

ย

6. External representation & corporate interaction

You will:

Work closely with corporate partners on hiring and placements

Prepare learners for professional environments

Represent Xcelevate in selected meetings and reviews

ย

Strong English communication skills are non-negotiable.

What success looks like

Programs run smoothly, on schedule, time, budget and improve continuously

Learners stay engaged, grow in confidence, and succeed at work

Corporate partners trust Xcelevateโ€™s outcomes

Clear playbooks exist for every major activity

Xcelevate can scale faster without losing quality or values

ย

Is genuinely passionate about social impact, not just the sector

Enjoys responsibility and ownership

Is comfortable being accountable for human outcomes, not just plans

Cares about doing things right, not just fast

This role will test you ifโ€ฆ

You avoid difficult conversations

You need constant structure and certainty

You prefer clean spreadsheets over messy human realities

You are motivated primarily by compensation or titles

ย

This role will fulfil you deeply if you care about impact that lasts.

Experience & requirements

5+ years managing and scaling complex programs

Experience working with youth from underrepresented communities (strong plus)

Proven ability to manage people, processes, and ambiguity

Excellent spoken and written English

Willingness to relocate to Ahmedabad

NGO experience is a plus, but not mandatory.

We welcome those returning to work.

ย

Growth & future

Head of Programs

National program leadership

Strategic program design and partnerships

ย

Growth here comes from responsibility earned, not titles given. What it offers instead is the opportunity to build something meaningful, ethical, and scalable and to see lives change because you did your job well.

Operations & Strategy Lead

ย

Location: Ahmedabad (on-ground, full-time)
Experience: 5+ (flexible for the right builder)

Why this role exists

Xcelevate is at an inflection point.

What started as a focused experiment has proven that excellence can be developed anywhere, and that first-generation learners, when supported by the right systems, can outperform expectations.

The challenge now is scale without dilution.

This role exists to replace founder execution over time by:

Holding the big picture

Identifying gaps before they become failures

Building systems that allow programs to scale across cities, partners, and student volumes

Ensuring that culture, ethics, and outcomes scale together

If done well, this role naturally evolves into Chief Operating Officer.

This is a strategic, system-building role

You are not being hired to fight daily fires. You are being hired to:

Step back from execution and design how execution should work

Translate mission into repeatable, measurable operations

Bring clarity where growth introduces complexity

You will work closely with the Founder, but with the explicit mandate to take over operational ownership as trust and systems mature.

What you will own

1. Organisation-wide operations & scale

You will be responsible for:

Designing how Xcelevate operates across programs, cities, and partners

Identifying structural bottlenecks that limit scale

Ensuring that growth does not compromise:

Outcomes

Ethics

Culture

Quality of delivery

Your success will be measured by how smoothly and consistently Xcelevate scales.

2. Strategy, gaps & prioritisation

You will:

Continuously identify gaps across programs, systems, and teams

Propose and drive strategies to address them

Balance ambition with operational reality

Ensure leadership decisions are backed by data, not instinct alone

You are expected to challenge decisions constructively when evidence demands it.

3. OKRs, data & predictability

You will own:

Organisation-wide OKRs

Measurement discipline across programs

Regular reporting rhythms for leadership, board, and donors

Xcelevate already tracks student progress.
Your role is to make the organisation predictive, not just descriptive.

4. Systems & process maturity

You will:

Strengthen and integrate existing systems (CRM, LMS, reporting)

Define what โ€œgoodโ€ looks like for process maturity

Build playbooks for scale

Ensure reporting moves from individuals to institutional systems

Firefighting should reduce because systems work, not because people work harder.

5. Financial stewardship & governance

You will:

Own budgets across programs

Drive cost optimisation without compromising outcomes

Oversee audits, compliance, and governance

Build financial discipline suitable for a scaling NGO

This role treats resources with the same seriousness as mission.

6. External stakeholder leadership

You will represent Xcelevate with:

Board members

Donors

Strategic partners

You will be trusted to speak for the organisation with clarity, integrity, and confidence.

Authority & accountability

You will be accountable to the Founder

You will have decision-making authority with sign-off initially

Over time, you will assume full operational ownership

Program Managers may not report into you initially, but your systems will shape how they work

Who this role is for

This role is for someone who:

Thinks in systems, not silos

Cares deeply about doing things right, not just scaling fast

Is intolerant of mediocrity, especially when lives are impacted

Believes ethics and outcomes are non-negotiable

Can take responsibility, make mistakes, and course-correct quickly

Is comfortable holding both strategy and accountability

You enjoy building organisations, not just running them.

This role will test you ifโ€ฆ

You prefer clean authority over earned trust

You avoid ambiguity

You are uncomfortable challenging founders respectfully

You believe culture is โ€œHRโ€™s jobโ€

You optimise for optics instead of outcomes

This role will fulfil you deeply if you believe in our cause and want to build an institution that lasts.

Experience & background

Experience scaling operations in complex environments

NGO experience is a plus, not a requirement

Corporate operations experience is valuable if paired with humility and mission fit

Strong analytical and communication skills

Comfort with data, systems, and governance

Willingness to relocate to Ahmedabad

Growth path

This role is explicitly designed to grow into:
Chief Operating Officer

Progression will be based on:

Systems built

Outcomes sustained at scale

Trust earned across teams, and partners

How to apply

Along with your resume, please answer:

Why does building ethical, scalable systems for first-generation learners matter to you personally?
